Memories of Mont Blanc (SoML) #summitsathome
During these days when we are forced to stay at home and keep social distance, the internet and social networks allow us to have access to a large amount of content: movies, books, online courses... and, also, we have more time to review memories or imagine new challenges.
I would like to share with you some moments that these days have come to mind. Lately, I think a lot about the Summits of My Life project that led me to establish new speed marks in a series of very special mountains for me. Mixing ultra running and mountaineering and, accompanied by my friends and my team, the SoML project was always linked to a purist and minimalist way of understanding the mountain.
I have found some articles that I wrote about the SoML project that I would like to share with you. I'll start with the second of the challenges, on Mont Blanc, in 2013. If I had to describe that day with a word, I would say "friendship". It was very exciting to be able to share it with a friend like Mathéo. When we reached the top, just looking at each other, we understood how much it meant to both of us.
Here you can read the complete article where I explain the feelings I had at 4:50 in the morning, when we were together with Mathéo about to start the challenge; the illusion when reaching the top; the sadness when Mathéo asked me to continue alone or, also, the material I used.
In addition, you can discover much more about the experience in the film 'Déjame Vivir', where you will see in images of the ascent to Mont Blanc, as well as two of the following challenges of the SoML project: the Elbrus and the Matterhorn. ;)
