Kilian Jornet wins the Zegama Aitzgorri mountain marathon with a time of 3:48:40, lowering the existing record by six minutes.

Zegama Aitzgorri is a 42-km mountain marathon with a total altitude difference of 5,472m, which takes place in the Basque country.

"It has been a very special race, with my seventh win here in Zegama as well as breaking the record. This was a goal I have had for some time and has meant great joy in a hotly contested race. The atmosphere and the onlookers have been unbelievable, as always," stated Jornet after the race.
