National Geographic has rewarded Kilian Jornet as an adventurer of the year 2018, recognizing his double ascent to Everest alone, without oxygen or fixed ropes.
“I am very happy to receive this award again, which recognizes adventure activities around the world. Also, share it with athletes like Alex Honnold whom I admire a lot, still makes it more special and helps more people know about our little worlds, “explained Jornet.

Jornet had already won this award in 2014 and this year he shares it with other adventurers such as the climber Alex Honnold, the surfer Emi Koch, the mountain racer Rajesh Magar, the photographers Cristina Mittermeier and Paul Nicklen, the climber and skier of Mount Hilaree Nelson O’Neill or the Ultra-Araona Mirna Valerio. The award, awarded annually by National Geographic, rewards remarkable activities of adventure of the last year.
